Dark Lipstick Do’s and Dont’s

Dark Lips are in right now and even know you might think that dark lips are only for fall or winter seasons, they can make a great night time or date night look. Dark lips look great with tan skin and pulled back hair. I’m going to show you how to rock your best dark lip with simple Do’s and Don’ts.

DO : Keep your look simple, play up only one feature at a time. Pull hair back into an easy  pony tail, keep cheeks and eyes bare and let your look revolve around a dramatic, deep berry lipstick. This way everyone sees the bright lip. If you try to do up your eyes and your lips sometimes it can be a little to much. (I’ve learned this the hard way)

DONT’S  : Be careful with your lip liner. For lined lips is suggest rimming your lips with a pointy Q-tip dipped in translucent powder to help the darkest shades of lip stick stand put.

DO : When you wear a plum lipstick try pairing it with bold brows. It’s a easy quick way to get a bold and edgy look. The dark lips and heavy brows draw a lot of attention to you features. With simple contouring you can create a bold look with out all the hassle.

DON’T :  Don’t forget to check your teeth. Don’t forget the tried and true trick with Vaseline ! Just rub a small amount of Vaseline on your teeth before you apply your lipstick.

DO : Since we are using the dark lips in the summer, you can use darker tones of lip stick with darker skin tones. the tanner the skin the darker the lip. You can get away with dark fuchsia, dark berry and brownish red.

Cheap !! At Home Spa Day !!

Summer will be here soon, which means it is time to embrace the refreshing, renewing spirit that comes with it. while spending money to rejuvenate your mind and body is perfectly acceptable, sometimes the best changes are made at home. So put down your phone, step away from the tv, maybe invite over a few friends and create a spa – level experience in the comfort of your own home.

First I’m going to talk about DIY face mask :

  1. Home Made Avocado Face Mask :

Benefits :  Moisture, prevents wrinkles and fine lines, tightens the skin, and brightens skin.

How to make it : You just need 1/2 of an avocado, 1/2 of a very ripe banana, and 1 tbsp. of olive oil. mix all the ingredients together till smooth. Apply the mask to your entire face focusing on the T zone  (forehead, nose, and chin)

2. Second I’m going to talk about DIY hair mask :

Benefits : Strengthens hair, softens and renews.

How to make it : 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. of coconut oil or olive oil. mix together till everything is combined. Start with the ends of hair and work your way to the roots. Let it set for 1 hour, then wash with shampoo and conditioner.

3. Third thing I’m going to talk about is a quick body scrub.

Benefits : refreshes and rejuvenate  dried skin

How to make it : 2 cups brown sugar, 1/2 cup of olive oil, and 1/4th cup of honey. Mix ingredients together till well combined. Apply all over body avoiding the face.

4. The last thing I’m going to talk about is snacks !

Quick and Easy cucumber sandwiches :

Ingredients : 16 oz. Softened Cream Cheese

You can leave your bread in the freezer until you are ready to use it.  I left mine in the fridge.  You don’t want it too soft or it might be hard to cut or tear when you spread your spread on it later.

  1. Take out your bread, cutting knife, and cutting board
  2. Cut off crusts.  Try to keep your bread as square as you can.
  3. Cut bread into four equal squares
  4. Put these in a plastic bag in the fridge until you are ready to use them.
  5. You can prepare all of your bread a day ahead of time to save time when you are going to be ready to serve it.

Now, Get your cucumbers ready.

1.Clean and peal cucumbers

2. Cut off ends

3. Cut into thin slices

4.Put them in the fridge until you’re ready to  use them.

Take your softened cream cheese and put it in a bowl.  Mix in the dry ranch and some milk.  Mix it all up.

Now you can take everything back out of the fridge.

Carefully spread the cream cheese mix on the breads.  Place a cucumber piece on each and sprinkle lightly with paprika.

I hope this gives you ideas for your own spa day or maybe you just want to try one of these ideas.

Morning Routine

Create  a morning routine. Morning people are successful people. Just ask any CEO, politician, or professional athlete—they all start their day at the crack of dawn, gaining a leg up on the competition. Creating a routine and setting out to complete a few tasks before your day starts will leave you energized and make you feel accomplished before your day has even begun.

Tips to create a morning routine:

  • Get up at least 30 minutes earlier then you usually do. Don’t hit the snooze button. 30 minutes will make a world of difference if you want to get a little more done or just want to have a relaxing morning.
  • Get ready. If beauty is the last thing on your mind in the morning use this extra time to develop a skin care routine, refining your makeup skills, or trying something new with your hair. Mascara can do wonders, but the act of spending a little extra time focusing on yourself has more benefit to your happiness.

My current skin care products I’m using:

  1. Bior’e deep pore charcoal cleanser
  2. Neotrogena clear pore astringent
  3. simple moisturizer

My Go to make up products :

  • Revlon color stay foundation (12 hour) (combination to oily skin)
  • Revlon color stay powder in translucent
  • cover girl classic color blush (540 rose silk)
  • Neutrogena moisture shine lipgloss (130 berry)
  • Too Faced Better than sex mascara

Take time for breakfast ! At least 20 minutes, So quit skipping it and fix something healthy and with fresh ingredients.

My go to meal in the morning :

One scrambled egg with tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms and a glass of water, coffee or green tea ( Tip: green tea speeds up metabolism)

Plan your day ! Take 10 minutes to write out your goals for the day. This will help keep you on track and motivated through out your entire day.

I keep 3 journals that I write in each morning one is for goals and plans, second one is for creativity this journal is for doodles, stories, anything and the 3rd one is for writing down what I eat.

And last is work out ! I don’t care if it’s just stretching or a couple of lunges but get moving in the morning and do something that makes you happy!

Every morning you have 2 choices:  continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.

Yoga benifits, Coffee, and Me time

As I sit here in my room in front of my computer while I drink my coffee I mind begins to wonder about all the things I have to do today. I have to work this evening, I have a car to clean, clothes to put away, a doctors appointment, school stuff I have to get taken care of. All of these things I start thinking about and then start worrying about. Then I remember that its time for Yoga. Yoga for me is my “Me time”. If you don’t know what “Me time” is let me tell you. Its time that you take out of your day just to focus on you. Its really important. We get so caught up in work and school and just life, that we forget to take time to for just ourselves to remember what our goals are or are dreams are. I believe very strongly that God has a plan for us. There is no need to worry because it will all work out. Taking my me time and doing yoga or anything else I like to do like journaling or reading my bible helps me remember to “Let go and let GOD.”

I know Yoga isn’t for everyone but it is so much fun to me that I wanted to share with all of you the benefits behind yoga.

Yoga is a proven technique that gives you strength, mental health, agility, flexibility, over all well being etc. Feel depressed? Stressed? tired? emotionally drained ? Well your answer is Yoga.

  • Fitness, your over all fitness of your body will improve. Yoga will give you strength and help tone your muscle.
  • Weight Management, different exercises help with over all weight management. Sun salutation sequence is really good for that. It helps reduce fat and cholesterol level and increases good cholesterol.
  • Energy, Yoga keeps you refreshed. Just a few minutes of yoga everyday or 10 minutes of meditation before you start your day, will rejuvenate you and keeps you recharged for the rest of the day.
  • Flexibility and Good posture, Yoga helps tome the body muscles and helps relieve pain that arises from incorrect posture.
  • Stress Relief, Yoga helps in detoxifying the body and helps in releasing stress and tensions from the body.
  • Improved Immunity, Yoga helps improve immunity and helps in blood circulation.
  • Peace and Intuition, yoga helps calm the mind and leads to a more serene state.
  • Asthma or Breathing Problems, People practicing yoga have a better chance to control their breathing abilities.
  • High Blood Pressure, with breathing techniques and different postures, studies have revealed that it lowers the blood pressure.
  • Pain management, pain like back pain, arthritis, can be cured with yoga using different asana. Yoga helps rejuvenating the cartilage between two bones.
  • Positive Energy, Yoga channelizes positive energy and helps make connection with oneself therefore raising awareness. It gives you power to change yourself, to cleanse yourself, to treat your body like a temple and keep it clean and worthy. Positive energy is contagious.

“Inhale the future, exhale the past.”

“You create your own calm.”

“Yoga is not for the flexible, Its for the willing.”

But first, Coffee

so It’s 4:30 in the morning and I am rushing out the door so I can be at work at 5am with my coffee in one hand and my work badge in the other, I realize that I need some sort of plan ready for days like this when I have to get ready quick. Being in your twenties is sometimes complicated. Especially if your a twenty something girl who takes like 2 hours to get ready no matter what. So I came up with some ideas for me to get ready faster in the mornings. I don’t do this all the time because I defiantly like taking my time to get ready, to me its therapeutic but on those days where I have to rush out the door, it sure comes in handy. So I am going to share these ideas with you beautiful twenty something’s.

  1. Keep a small make up bag where you can find it. This is going to be used for the make up that you can throw on easy. I usually throw my foundation, pressed powder, mascara, and lip gloss into this bag. This way your not running around your room or bathroom trying to find your makeup. I also go ahead and throw this in my purse or back pack or what ever I am carrying that day for quick touch ups. (I also put my roll on perfume down in this bag also.)
  2. Lay your outfit out the night before. I know this sounds cliché but it totally works ! And if your anything like me I never can figure out what I want to wear, and I try on like 10 outfits, and before I know it my room looks like a tornado hit it. So to avoid this I pick out  2 or 3 outfit’s that I know that I really like and work. That way I can try them on quickly and I don’t make as big of a mess if I would just wait till the last minute.
  3. Make sure your keys and purse are where you can find it. I want to say sometimes I lose my keys but its usually all the time. Make sure to hang your keys or place them where you can find them. Try to put them in the same place every day that way you know exactly where they are. I am still not good at this but im trying. For me I hang them up where I hang my jewelry right beside me door. I promise it helps. Do the same thing with your purse or back pack or what ever you have to carry for that day. I try to make sure I hang my purse behind my door that way I can grab it and I know exactly where it is. Also make sure it’s ready to go that night before to. Make sure your wallet, sunglasses, or  phone charger or pretty much anything that you carry in your purse is already in there.

Hopefully these tips will help you out. Nobody ever tells you how to be an adult. There is no instruction manual and it can get hard. I never realized how hard it is to get up and get ready super early for work until I had to do it. I mean some of us our college students or work 40 hours a week and only get like 4 hours of sleep or are up till the next morning working on a paper for school and after doing all of that you have to get up and get ready the next day and it can be complicated. I am usually a hot mess like all the time, but these tips for the morning really help me out. Eventually we might have it all figured out but until then we have to take it one step at a time.

The start of something NEW !

Hello friends, so I decided to start something new and try to write a blog. My name is Cortney and I am 21 years old. I am currently not in school right now but going back in January. I am getting my bachelors in education. Right now im just a 20 something trying to figure out life. Struggling with finding out who I am and who I am going to be, losing friends and finding new ones, dealing with college loans, part time jobs, and first loves. I also believe in my lord and savior Jesus Christ and I am a Christian. I teach several classes about the lord for children through my church. I am a big part in children’s ministry. So if you want to follow a twenty something girl through this crazy journey called life, stick around. I am starting this blog because maybe im not the only twenty something who doesn’t have it all figured out and maybe we can figure it out together. “Let my heart and my focus be on you Jesus so I can face whatever today brings.” Psalm 105:4
